Hello!
So Battletech! If you haven't heard of it, its THE grand-daddy of big stompy robots on the tabletop. You may have heard of the MechWarrior line of games and even the latest Battletech video game for PC. Yeah, yeah, they are all well and good. But, many of us grognards know it as the first miniatures game we played as kids way back in the mid-80s.
So, i've been pestering Rob for a while about Battletech and he's seen it fit, in his infinite benevolence, to open an account with Iron Wind Metals. So I... I of course mean, all of us 'mech heads, can now get our Battletech fix from the Rob.
Not only that, the shop will have a once a month, likely on the last Friday of the month, Battletech night at the shop. The games will be run campaign style and story driven and each player is urged to have a character.
However, worry not, as player commitment is very-low for this series of games. Players are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as they like. And if you don't want a character, you can play as a generic pilot for the session or just play as the 'bad-guys'.
Experience or knowledge of the game or any of its rules is not necessary. You will quickly pick up the rules as, at its heart, Battletech is a very simple game. Our players also have lots of mechs so you dont have to bring anything, you just need to come out and play.
There's a facebook group dedicated to the Friday night games as well to keep track of story missions and just to talk Battletech. Its private at the moment but just send a request to join and it shall be granted. https://www.facebook.com/groups/4011351642267435/
Our first session is this Friday, starting around 6:30 or so and going until Rob kicks us out. If you are looking for a rich game with a lot of possibility, come on out to have a look, I'd love to see you there.
